Mt. Douglas

13 October 2016

For those of you who know me, you know that I'm not much of an "outdoorsy" person... okay, I'm not an outdoorsy person at all. I hate bugs, and dirt, and have a fear of wild animals, and most certainly do not have the motivation to be physically active for more than an hour. But despite all of that I was somehow convinced to put aside my loath of nature for the time being and go on a hike up Mount Douglas.

I'm not going to say that I thoroughly enjoyed it - I felt like too much of a bushman and it took a lot of mental energy to motivate myself to keep trudging up the "hill". However, I will say that I overall didn't hate it. Yes, I was sweaty. Yes, I felt gross. Yes, I most definitely slipped and or fell multiple times. And yes, I was physically exhausted by the time we got to the top (not the top of the mountain, but to our destination of an abandoned toll bridge). BUT it did make for some pretty rad pictures, and I told myself that for the day I was a trendy hipster that went on hikes and took cool forest pictures that were National Geographic worthy (not actually though). So I guess it was kind of worth it... but only kind of.

Victoria, BC

Victoria, BC.

Over "reading week" I ventured out to BC to visit some of my family.
The irst destination was Victoria BC! My dearest cousin Brianna was lovely enough to be my host/tour guide and take me to all the hidden gems the city had to offer - including the Marina where we fed these super cute seals featured in the photos above.

Though I would have loved to stay longer, our time was limited. I am thankful for the couple of days we got to spend out there with her and look forward to seeing the beautiful city again - hopefully sometime soon!!
